Steve White Finishes 8th in Vendee Globe

Congratulations from everyone at the Solwey Challenge to Steve White from Dorchester who has just finished 8th in the Vendee Globe round the world solo challenge on ‘Toe in the Water’.

Steve’s boat can often be seen in Portland Harbour and Weymouth Bay where the Solwey Challenge will be taking place so we know him really well.

His family will be happy and relieved to have him back on dry land.

Simon Coates Appointed Solwey Challenge Manager

Simon CoatesThe Solwey Challenge is set to be the main social and sporting event for the marine defence and ocean technology communities with the aspiration of becoming one of the key yachting events of its type leading up to the Olympic and Parallympic events in 2012.

 

Simon Coates has considerable marine event management experience having worked in corporate hospitality and business training roles throughout the UK, China and much of Europe and Asia. He’s sailed most of his life and been a professional sailor for more than 14 years. He’s both sailed on most of the major oceans as well as worked alongside many of the world’s top marine and underwater providers. Simon’s also one of the authors of ‘Teams Unlimited’ - the acclaimed book dealing with the application of seamanship skills to modern day business management.

As Challenge Manager, he combines the latest in event organisation with his passion for helping individuals and companies to effectively use yachting for the development of better business relationships. His enthusiasm, humor and energy will ensure that the Solwey Challenge is set to provide an enlightening and inspiring experience for all participants.

The Solwey Challenge is the latest event to be added to the 2009 yachting calendar, providing the marine defence and ocean technology community with a platform for business networking and competitive sailing.
