If you work in the marine defence or ocean technology communities then this challenge is hereby laid down for you!

You are both challenged to take part in the Solwey Challenge on the 1st-3rd July 2010, and to make this a successful event for your clients, colleagues or even your family.

The Solwey Challenge represents your opportunity to share a demanding activity - sailing a yacht fast - along with the chance of victory should you win! The Solwey Challenge is designed to stretch you beyond your range of knowledge and skill!

Yachting’s a highly engaging activity demanding teamship without which you quite simply will go nowhere fast!

This is your opportunity to build more meaningful relationships with your clients, prospects and colleagues. Crew’s can be made up of clients, suppliers or employees from the Marine Defence and Ocean Technology Communities.

Day 1 - Thursday 1st July - Passage Race - The Solent to Weymouth. Early Thursday morning start from Cowes - Isle of Wight, then race West past the needles and along the spectacular Dorset Jurassic coastline finishing around 60 nautical miles away in Weymouth Bay.

Day 2 - Friday 2nd July - Around the Buoys - Sail with the same crew or bring in a new crew for the 3-short races around the laid buoys in Weymouth Bay, home of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games sailing events. Day concludes with prize giving and the challenge party  7 - 12pm.

Day 3 - Saturday 3rd July -  Options Day - There will be an informal “competitive cruise” on yachts returning to the Solent (open to partners, spouses and immediate family) or enjoy some of the special shore events laid on for the Spirit of the Sea Maritime Festival. Contact: Challenge Manager for options: extra tickets - prize giving/challenge party, shore side entertainment, alternative activities and transfers etc.
